The town and surrounding area

The traditional home of the Dukes of Brittany , Nantes is the historical capital of the region.Sixth largest town in France (245 000 inhabitants), Nantes is 50 km from the Atlantic coast and just 2 hours by TGV train from Paris. The town has a rich maritime past thanks to the commercial exchanges that placed it at the center of trade between the Old and the New World from the 16th century onward. Later on, Nantes turned more towards metallurgy and the food industry.  Today, the service sector is the primary activity of the city. Regularly ranked first among all towns in France for its quality of life, Nantes is a modern, fast growing, dynamic city  on the economic, educational and cultural level.

Nantes offers an ideal setting in which to work, study, relax and have fun. With 35% of the population  under the age of 25 there are a great number of activities for students (festivals, theatre, cinemas, concerts, sports etc.)
