An exceptional environment

The Rhône-Alpes Region

image
A link between northern and southern Europe, the Rhône-Alpes region is the second economic region of France and the 10th region of Europe. Education is number one priority in this region where 20% of all French engineers are formed and trained in some of the most well-known and oldest French schools. Among this group , the only school to belong to the Ministry of Industry is the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines of Saint-Etienne (ENSM-SE). Rhône-Alpes has, after Paris, the highest research concentration with 20,000 scientists or engineers working in public or private laboratories. Being part of this center of excellence is also one of the assets of ENSMSE.

Saint-Etienne

Saint-Etienne is the 11th largest city of France, the 2nd in the Rhône-Alpes region, and with its surrounding districts totals half a million inhabitants. Boasting an exceptional environment, with the regional Park of the Pilat only 10 minutes away by car, St Etienne offers all the cultural, recreational and outdoor activities you can dream of in one of France's most unspoilt natural region : the Massif Central.

Transport

The downtown area is accessible by tramway or bus. Lyon is only a 40-minute train ride away, and Paris only 3 hours direct from Saint-Etienne by TGV. If you stay longer than 3 months, it is recommended to have a car.
