Research areas

The purpose of the Centre is to develop a method which it originally initiated and is known as Mathematical Morphology. Its activities consist in extending the existing branches of this discipline or in creating new ones.

Furthermore, although mathematical morphology is not bound to any specific application, the practical applications of image analysis which are studied at the Centre are those that nurture most methodological innovations.

The other source of inspiration comes from theoretical reflection and its requirements of coherence.

In point of fact, that is the fate of all forms of applied mathematics.
