Research > Department of Energy & Environmental Engineering
This research department focuses its work on energy and environmental processes used to control pollution in domotic, agricultural or industrial activities. In this general approach, 3 teams work on the following topics :
Environmental Engineering
Fluid dynamics and processes
Energetic and Environmental Performance of Gas Engines
ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING
This team develops research in processes used in water, wastewater and air treatments. Using chemical engineering methodologies, 3 general approaches are proposed : methodology for the transfer and transformation in the solid-fluid interfaces; new process developments with pilot units to determine performance and to optimize operating conditions; modelling of processes.
At present 3 research programs are in progress :
Adsorption and desorption of organic or metallic ions onto activated carbon (grains, fibers, cloth) or biopolymers,
Transfer with chemical reactions,
Transfer with biological reactions,
Applications in air, water and waste treatments.
FLUID DYNAMICS AND PROCESSES
This team works in the field of fluid mechanics using both experimental and numerical approaches. Current projects focus on three topics :
Air jet curtains
Fluid flow through porous media
ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE OF GAS ENGINES
Gas engines are studied in order to control pollutant emissions with greater efficiency. Current projects focus on two topics :
Lean burn in spark ignition gas engines
Dual fuel motors.
